Our Doctors
Dr. Wendy M. Kashenider
Dr. Wendy Kashenider graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Originally from Westland, MI, a suburb of Detroit, she spent her first year of practice in Livonia, MI. She then moved to the DeWitt area in 1999, where she practiced in South Lansing and Eaton Rapids for the next four years. Dr. Kashenider joined DeWitt Veterinary Hospital in February 2003. She purchased the veterinary hospital from its retiring founder, Dr. John M. Hinson in July 2003. Dr. Kashenider loves surgery and medicine for small animals, exotic pets, and wildlife.

She enjoys the outdoors including fishing, gardening, and sports; anything MSU (go State!!), reading, and just spending time with her family. The Kashenider family spends a lot of time at the ice rink where their children are avid hockey players. You may not know that Dr. Kashenider and her husband Gary had a band based out of Lansing called ‘Dash Riprock’ that was voted ‘Best Country Band in Mid-Michigan’s Best of the Best’. Dr. Kashenider played the keyboards and sang lead and harmonies.
Dr. Carrie Bonemer

Dr. Carrie Bonemer received her D.V.M. degree from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Instead of jumping into private practice, Dr. Bonemer worked in the zoonotic disease section at the Michigan Department of Community Health for a year and a half dealing with human West Nile Virus and Lyme disease cases in Michigan. She found she missed working with pet patients and their owners, however, so she left the health department and joined a small animal practice in 2005.

Small animal practice is Dr. Bonemer’s passion, and she spent 11 years practicing in Howell before joining DeWitt Veterinary Hospital in September 2015. Dr. Bonemer loves private practice because enjoys the relationships that develop with patients, owners, and veterinary staff. Dr. Bonemer’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery and dermatology; she loves working with cats and dogs. Dr. Bonemer is a bulldog lover, and her Old English Bulldogge named Emmy is her pride and joy. Dr. Bonemer resides in Okemos with her husband and two teenage sons. They share their home with two dogs (Yogi and Emmy) and four cats (Pudge, Cora, Hooper, and Murray). She is an avid Spartans fan and loves watching her sons play competitive baseball. In her spare time, Dr. Bonemer enjoys pilates, reading historical fiction, and spending time outdoors.
Dr. EJ Radelt

Dr. EJ Radelt graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. He then joined a busy small animal practice in Flint, Michigan and spent 6 years practicing there. He grew up on a cattle farm in Imlay City, a rural town in the thumb area of Michigan. Dr. EJ decided to focus on small animal medicine because he enjoys building personal relationships with his pet patients and owners. His professional interests include internal medicine, radiology, and behavior cases. 

Dr. EJ has lived in Saint Johns for the past 5 years. He has 3 corgis (Piper, Cooper, and Petey), and 3 cats (Paco, Sophie, and Gus). In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar and piano, spending time with his family, and relaxing by the pool.

Dr. Julie Hubbard

Dr. Hubbard graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and has since been practicing small animal medicine in the mid-Michigan area.  

Growing up in nearby Eagle, Michigan with a fondness for science and animals, Dr. Hubbard hoped from an early age to become a veterinarian.  Being gifted a geriatric pony – aptly named Lucky – dragging along with him a multitude of chronic health problems, she learned the responsibilities of pet ownership and saw the dedication of the veterinarians who helped care for him.  It was inspiring.  

Dr. Hubbard has great interest in medicine and thoroughly enjoys surgery.  She finds sincere fulfillment in getting to know people and helping them care for their pets.  In her free time Dr. Hubbard enjoys nearly any outdoor activity, especially when it involves being with her husband and two children.  Her furry family consists of an enthusiastic Australian Shepard, a lazy house cat, two entitled barn cats and three happily jobless Nigerian Dwarf Goats.

Daisy T, Administrative Assistant
Daisy has been with the DeWitt Veterinary Hospital team for over 20 years combined. Currently, she is in a layer of management and focuses on administrative tasks in addition to HR needs. Key areas of interest are supporting the team with their various tasks, improving overall efficiency, and helping clients to navigate the landscape of their particular pet’s needs. Hobbies include low-key homesteading, so far, it’s just chickens and dogs but there will be a cow someday! She resides in Haslett with her family of four children, husband, and 3 goofy German Shepherds: Ruby, Blitzen, and Donnor.

Our LVT’s
Stephanie C, LVT

Stephanie started with Dewitt Veterinary Hospital in 2021 after moving to the area. Her passion for animals began at a young age and she always knew her heart was in veterinary medicine. She began her career as a veterinary assistant in 2014 and obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2019. Outside the clinic she enjoys reading, puzzles, gardening, and exploring parks with her dog Murphy- who is a proud blood donor at MSU. Her two cats, Annie and Sterling also bring her a lot of joy.
Geoff H, LVT

Geoff started his veterinary career back when connecting to the internet made weird whale sounds. He started off working in a dinosaur boarding facility, but was forced to switch to dogs and cats as the number of dinosaurs diminished. After the boarding facility, Geoff started working at a veterinary hospital, and eventually went to school at MSU to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. He has worked in a preventive care practice, an emergency vet practice, a veterinary blood bank, and now Dewitt Veterinary Hospital. Geoff is currently the Surgery Technician at Dewitt Veterinary Hospital, but sometimes he sneaks out of surgery and does other things (Shhh!).

Due to allergies in his home when he was a kid, Geoff didn’t have any pets growing up, forcing him to live in a sad world where there was never pet hair on the clean clothes and nail trims didn’t involve life or death wrestling on the floor of the living room. It would probably be fair to say he’s severely overcompensated as an adult. Starting with his first pet as an adult, a cat named Wimpy (who definitely wasn’t wimpy), he has enjoyed the company of numerous dogs and cats over the years.

He currently has three dogs, two border collies named Finn and Rowan, and one hound mix named Ivy. Due to a severe sheep deficiency, the border collies herd the cats, the family, and each other, while the hound alerts everyone to severe threats, a list that currently includes shadows, the Fedex truck, the vacuum, the carpet cleaner, the garbage truck, the doorbell on TV shows, the actual door bell, the school bus, any visitors to the house, the horse in the back pasture, the blender, opening the oven door, thunder, lightning, strong winds, not so strong winds, sometimes the cats, the family leaving, the family coming back home, and any strange noises with a bark that is louder than any four other dogs combined, which seriously confuses the border collies as there still aren’t any sheep. In case you’re wondering, the UPS driver must be part ninja, as he somehow sneaks in and out without alerting any of the dogs. There are also three cats that have to put up with this canine circus, one very sweet, one medium, and one extra spicy (Pique, Peter, and T’Challa). 

Geoff has a diverse and wide ranging set of hobbies which include coaching soccer, refereeing soccer, running the Laingsburg Soccer Club, watching soccer on tv, watching soccer games of kids he knows, watching soccer games of people he doesn’t know, teaching soccer referee classes, and playing soccer. He also enjoys reading (it doesn’t even have to be about soccer, but sometimes it is).

Caitlin F, Lead Veterinary Assistant

Caitlin has been around animals since she could walk. Ever since she was little, she knew she wanted to work with animals. That led Caitlin to a dual enrollment program within her schooling where she completed veterinary assistant coursework, took her NAVTA exam, and graduated as a Certified Veterinary Assistant. When she is not at work, Caitlin is training wild mustangs! She trains them, appears in shows on a national level, and adopts them out to homes. In her spare time Caitlin loves spending time with her pets. She has 5 horses, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. She also enjoys doing activities outdoors.
Kayla B, Veterinary Assistant
Kayla found a love for animals at a very young age. She has worked with rescue dogs for as long as she can remember. As a child, she would explore the forest and find any small creature she could. Often making habitats for frogs and salamanders. The love and the passion of helping others jump started her career in veterinary medicine. In her spare time she enjoys dog training, spending time outdoors hiking, and camping with her dogs. She has two dogs (Koba and Goose) and two cats (Astro and Juneau).
Tina B, Veterinary Assistant
Tina has been with DeWitt Veterinary Hospital since September 2005 as a veterinary assistant. She has had a love for all animals since she was young. She lives in Bath with her dogs Benji & Tanner, 5 cats, a miniature donkey named Willey, and her horse Dakota. Tina is an MSU fan and enjoys gardening, horseback riding, and spending time with her family.

Sophia B, Veterinary Assistant
Sophia is currently a student at MSU majoring in Animal Science! She has known for a very long time that she wanted to work with animals. She lives in her apartment in Okemos with her two cats, Ted and Pumpkin. Back in her hometown, Kalamazoo, she has two dogs, Ranger and Ruby. In her free time she likes to read, walk around campus, and continue her studies.
Madison Z, Kennel Attendant
Madison is currently a student at Michigan State University majoring in Animal Science. She has three dogs, Bella, Koda, and Swiffer, and three cats, Gus, Momo, and Lucy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family.
Ralph, Clinic Cat
Ralph is our resident clinic kitty at DeWitt Veterinary Hospital. He runs a tight ship at the office and keeps our days flowing nicely. Ralph is a domestic long-haired kitty whose strong points include running across workspaces where work is being done, disappearing pens, and yelling for his people when he needs tending to. He creates a fun workspace for our team and we love him dearly.
