With advancements in digital x-ray technology, we can now manipulate digital images obtained from a pet’s systems to determine what is wrong. This has enabled us to detect previously undetectable conditions such as hairline fractures and orthopedic conditions.
A pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system are all routinely examined using radiology (x-rays) (bladder, prostate). It can be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to generate a list of potential causes for a pet’s condition, identify the exact cause of a problem, or rule out potential problems.
